Idealis is a reliable partner for every one of its employees. Idealis is specialised in recruiting experienced professionals from abroad to Finland and also from Finland to abroad.
In various international surveys, Finland has been selected as one of the world’s best places for work, education and other living conditions. Finland is a well organised, stable democracy, with a clean environment and where it is safe to live. In Finland, experts in many fields are valued, irrespective of where in the world they come from. Internationality is extremely important for Finland.
What is important is that you are recognised as a really good professional in your field, on the basis of your training and experience. Enter your personal and professional qualifications on Idealis’ personnel recruitment form, which is attached. Try to tell us, briefly but comprehensively, what you are good at, and how this has been demonstrated in your work, and fill in the form as completely as possible. You can also send an e-mail to Idealis, to which you can attach your own personal CV and other information to assure Idealis of your skills and motivation. We can use these to impress our business customers. It is a big help if you can nominate former employers or colleagues as referees. All the information you give should be absolutely correct, because this phase will only serve to assure us of the qualities you need at work, and any possible misunderstandings will arise quickly on the job and cause disappointment to all concerned. Idealis will not pass on the details you give to anyone other than a potential employer.
If a suitable job is found, then Idealis Suomi Oy will act in the position of an employer, conscientiously performing all an employer’s duties. The business customer will be the company where you will be actually working. You will function there under the guidance and direction of the business customer just like all its other employees. Idealis always seeks employees on the instructions of the business customer. When we seek employees, we first check the situation in our own recruitment register, so it is good if your own details are there. Commissions are arriving continuously for various positions in various fields.
Very often it is sensible to arrange a test before the job actually starts. When the job and the conditions associated with it have been agreed, generally we agree a time when the employee can demonstrate his or her skills at work, their adaptation and their productivity. What is important is that expectations on both sides match reality.

Worth knowing about Finland
It’s easy to come and work in Finland. If you are a citizen of an EU country, you don’t need a special permit to work in Finland. For citizens of countries outside the EU/EEA, Idealis will apply for a work and residence permit.
For working abroad, however, there are always certain conditions, and here are some of them that are worth knowing about:
LANGUAGE SKILLS
It is a big advantage if you know Finnish. Especially in jobs where you are dealing with customers of the company (service tasks, customer service, caring, &c.) a satisfactory knowledge of Finnish is virtually mandatory. In some jobs, enough language knowledge is necessary to understand instructions from management and questions from customers, and the like. In some jobs you can make a start if you know English and then undertake to learn Finnish. And of course it is a great help in enjoying life generally if you have a command of the local language.
For people with tertiary qualifications who are recruited for jobs matching their qualifications it is enough to know English well. Of course, knowledge of another language is an advantage.
To sum up, we can say that you should at least have some knowledge of Finnish or English. In only a few jobs can you get by knowing only some other language. Of course this depends on the kind of job you do. And even weak language skills can be compensated by very good professional skills and an active desire to learn a new language.
EDUCATION
In Finland there is a requirement for some additional specialised training courses in addition to a basic education, and it is good to have undergone these before starting work in Finland. Idealis helps its employees with the necessary additional training, but it is a big advantage if the applicant already has it. Below are some examples of some of the requirements for various operations:
Fire Operations Card must be held by anyone who operates with fire, soldering or the like. Without it one may not operate with fire, and it is practically mandatory in all jobs involving welding, building, repairs and housing construction.
Labour Safety Card – virtually mandatory in all jobs in industry, building and housing construction.
Electrical safety training – mandatory for anyone working with electricity.
First aid training – virtually mandatory in jobs in industry, building and housing construction.
There are also special regulations for particular fields which must be borne in mind. In the longer term these specialised regulations will be the same in all EU countries, and training undergone in one EU country will also be valid in other EU countries, for example:
Refrigeration engineers require, from 1.7.2011, an authorisation issued in Finland by TUKES. Even experiences refrigeration engineers have to undergo a test before they can go on the authorisation register. Authorisation given in one EU country will also be valid in other EU countries.
Nurses, radiographers, laboratory assistants, carers, dental nurses &c. require an official Finnish
Valvira Permit in order to start working in Finland. Application must be made to Valvira.
Doctors and dentists also require a Valvira Permit in order to start working in Finland.
For experts and people in management, details of their education and experience, and the results achieved in them, are of decisive importance, and the prerequisites are always set out according to the job.
FOR THOSE FROM OUTSIDE THE E U
Employees coming from outside the EU should apply for a work and residence permit for a restricted period. Idealis will help the employee to apply for the permit. For this you need to fill in a form with your personal details, details of your employer and business customer, with one official passport photograph. The permit costs 400 € and a decision is likely to take about 4 – 8 weeks.
